The Oakland A’s are showing that they’re all-in by acquiring slugging DH/first baseman Kendrys Morales in an Opening Day eve deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Oakland sends minor league infield prospect Jesus Lopez and international bonus pool money to the Jays for Morales and cash to help offset his $12 million dollar salary. Morales will likely play first base for the A’s while regular starter Matt Olson recovers from hand surgery. In 130 games with the Blue Jay in 2018, Morales hit .249 with 21 home runs. Morales is currently in the final year of a three-year, $33 million dollar deal with Toronto and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.
