Game Preview: North Carolina State (6-3) at Florida State (7-2)

by Jeff Allen of Jeff Allen Sports

Two also rans out if the ACC Atlantic meet in Tallahassee on Saturday as the North Carolina State Wolfpack
face the home standing Seminoles of Florida State. NC State seems to have been knocking on the door of
breaking through as an elite team the past couple of years but can never seem to get through the door although
always dangerous. Florida State saw it’s National Championship hopes end last week in Clemson and are basically
looking to get enough style points to qualify for and FBS Bowl. The line opened at FSU -9.5 with the total 51. Only
the high/low has seen action moving up to 52 1/2 for the 12:30 PM EST ESPN3 game. The early forecast is partly
cloudy with a kickoff temperature of 66 with zero chance or precipitation.

As previously mentioned, Wolf Pack results have not lived up to the talented roster that this team has. Injuries have
wreaked havoc in the NC State running back pool with the Pack missing its two best players Shadrach Thornton
(203 yards, 3 TDs in two games) and Matt Dayes (865, 12 TDs) with legal and toe problems respectively. Jacoby
Brissett can throw the ball around but poses no threat with his legs. Defense has kept the Wolfpack in games and
ranked No.15 against the rush, No.19 against the pass to be ranked 9th overall in the FBS.

Everett Golson never turned out to be the savior he was advertised to be when he transferred over from Notre Dame to
replace “Famous” Jameis Winston. He’s had a decent season (67%, 1693, 11-1) but not a great season and many
Seminole faithful wonder if the job should have gone to three year intern Sean Mcguire. Dalvin Cook (1231, 12 TDs) is
arguably the most explosive back in college this year and will unquestionably by one of the top three backs taken in
this year’s NFL draft. The Florida State defense has not been as good as recent editions and the Sems have even had
special team issues that have cost them.

Florida State gas won 16 of the L23 in the series with NCSt cashing 14 of those 23 tickets. The Seminoles have won the
last two games in the series easily 56-41 and 49-17 but at Florida State -16.5 and -35, Wolfpack backers have been rewarded
at the windows, At first glance, the number looks to be a little low, especially if Florida State come out with a chip on it’s
shoulder off the Clemson loss where the team left everything on the field.
