JEFF ALLEN GAME PREVIEW: COLTS AT JETS

The homestanding NY Jets look to play the role of spoiler tonight as the desperate Indianapolis Colts pay a
visit on Monday Night Football. The Colts received good news over the weekend as Andrew Luck has been
cleared from the concussion protocol and will reportedly start. Luck’s favorite target and Indy deep threat,
T.Y. Hilton has been upgraded to probable after battling back problems. On the Jets side, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
and WR Brandon Marshall are probable. Nick Mangold, the linchpin of the Flyboy offensive line has also been
upgraded to probable.

The game opened at pick with the total set at 48 1/2. With news that Luck would play, the line immediately went
to it’s current Colts -2, the total has remained the same throughout the week at 48 1/2. Weather at the Meadowlands
will by typical for North Jersey in December, clear with temps in the high 30’s. Swirling winds inside of Met Life
Stadium will be an issue for the kickers. Kickoff is at 8:30 PM EST on ESPN.

Thanks to the ineptitude of the AFC North, the 5-6 Colts can grab a share of the division lead with a win here.
The Indy offense is middle of the pack at No.15 overall, No.13 passing and No.26 running the ball. The defense
is brutal and No.30 overall and No.31 against the pass. Despite their deficiencies, the Colts were on a 4-1-1
run prior to Luck getting his bell rung.

The Jets have had a nightmare season and are currently riding a three game losing streak. Ryan Fitzpatrick’s
play has nothing short of cursed as he’s thrown 13 picks to just 10 TDs. The Gang Green defense is staunch
against the run (No.3) but the secondary has been susceptible to the big play all year. Matt Forte has been rock
solid in the Jet backfield with 759 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 26 catches out of the backfield.

The game basically comes down to how well Andrew Luck can play after missing a couple of weeks. The Colts
are 5-2 when they score 24 or more points and 0-4 when they do not. The Jets have been torched by the long pass
all year so the question is whether or not Luck/Hilton can execute. The same goes for Fitzpatrick and company.
If the Jets are hitting on all cylinders they can basically do want they want against the Colt defense. The Jets have
played the Colts three times since 2010 and won straight up as dogs all three times. The AFC East is 4-2 this
year as a home dog. The Jets are just 2-7 ATS L9 after facing New England.
