JEFF ALLEN GAME PREVIEW: FLORIDA STATE at MIAMI
There are a lot of storylines revolving around this key interstate ACC rivalry game between the No.23 ranked Florida Seminoles and the reborn No.10 Miami Hurricanes. Speaking of hurricanes, there is some question as to whether this game will be played as Catagory Four Hurricane Matthew descends on Southern Florida. The 3-2 Seminoles are reeling and look to get back on track after losses to Louisville and North Carolina. Miami has been light’s out since Mark Richt took the helm. This is without a doubt the Canes toughest test to date and we’ll have much more complete picture of this edition of “The U” after this game.
Miami opened as a small -2 favorite with the over/under set at 65 1/2. Canes and Under money has the line sitting firmly at Canes -3 and 64 1/2 at this writing. The 8:00 PM kickoff is the national game on ABC. There is a 40% chance of rain throughout the game with the temperature in the mid-80s.
Florida State is still trying to figure things out after getting crushed at Louisville and then losing to North Carolnia in a game they would have had no business winning. QB Deondre Francois has unlimited potential but he hasn’t gotten much help thanks to inconsistent offensive line which has also hindered stud RB Dalvin Cook (63.7, 5.9, 7 TDs) from having a Heisman type year. The defemse is a shell of it’s former self … No.94 against the run, No.82 against the pass for an overall No.94 total defense.
New HC Mark Richt didn’t take long to instill the old winning culture back in the Miami program. Richt loves this school where he was a back up QB from 79-82. Miami has rolled through four games also going 4-0 ATS and the nation’s No.7 defense in No.3 vs. the pass and No.1 in the country in points allowed. Brad Kaaya is a three year starter and threw for 400+ in last year’s loss at Tallahassee. This year he will be home and facing a depleted Seminole secondary that was shredded for 400+ by North Carolina last week.
