JEFF ALLEN GAME PREVIEW: GIANTS at MINNESOTA
Week Five of the NFL concludes with an intriguing NFC matchup between the New York football Giants and the Minnesota Vikings in spanking brand new US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Big Blue should be a perfect 3-0 but gave away last week’s home game vs. Washington by settling for field goals and squandering opportunity after opportunity. The 3-0 Vikings showed that are a Super Bowl quality team with or without Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson by going down to Carolina and whacking the Panthers 22-10.
The game opened Vikes -3.5 with the total set at 44. Minnesota money and the under has moved the line to Vikes -4.5 and 42.5 at this writing. The Vikes new crib is a dome so weather will not be
an issue for the 8:30 PM EST kickoff on ESPN.
The Giants loss to the Skins was doubly painful because it was a division game to a team they could have buried. That said, the offense has been pretty good ranked No..5 in passing and No.6 overall. The new $200 million dollar defense has had it’s moments but can only wish it was half as good as the stop unit the team faces tonight. In the end, the go as Eli goes and most of the time whether you get the good or the bad Eli is anybodies guess.
The Vikes have to be full of confidence at this point after a completely dominating victory over the defending NFC champions last week. It’s only a matter of time though before the realization sets in that they’ve lost their starting quarterback, a first ballot Hall Of Fame running back, and All-Pro offensive tackle and a starting DT tackle all for the season before the first month of the season was out. Sam Bradford has been a revelation to this point and the defense’s only league rival would be the Broncos.
The Vikes hammered the Giants 49-17 in Week 15 last year intercepting Eli Manning three times. The Vikings are 18-2 ATS their L20 and 27-8 ATS overall under Zimmer. The three Giant games have been decided by a total of six points and Big Blue has passed for almost 700 yards the last two games. Eli figures to take better care of the ball here and should enjoy throwing in the perfect conditions of the dome.
