JEFF ALLEN GAME PREVIEW: TEXAS at OKLAHOMA

The Red River Rivalry renews for the 111th time on Saturday as the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas
Longhorns strap it up at the neutral site location of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. The Longhorns
own a 61-44-5 overall edge including a 24-17 win last year as 16-point underdog. Texas has covered
three straight in the series and this year finds the matchup in the unusual position of having both
teams with two losses in just the second weekend of October.

The line at this writing in Oklahoma -10.5 with the total set at 73.5, the high/low a full point and a half
more than the opener. Weather is expected to be perfect in “Big D” with the temperature at the 12:00
PM EST kickoff expected to be in the mid-70’s. More significantly, there are injury concerns for both
teams that bear watching.

For Oklahoma, the lynchpin of the Sooner offense, quarterback Baker Mayfield has been hobbled
with a bad ankle but is listed as probable. Joe Mixon and Samaje Perrine are arguably the best RB
1-2 punch in the country but neither has really gotten untracked after four games. The No.88 ranked
defense has been abysmal against the pass allowing 299 yards-per-game, good for No.116 nationally.

… and it looks like Texas may have to go ahead and pass almost every down. The Horns are very talented
in the backfield but riddled with injuries. Chris Warren  (369, 5.9, 3 TDs) is out 6-8 weeks with a knee
injury and D’Onta Foreman (436, 7.0, 5 TDs) is bothered with bad ribs but will likely play. Texas HC
Charlie Strong has been under the gun since arriving at UT but of late it has been for a defense that
he’s been responsible for fixing. Cal and Okie State both threw at will in the Horns last two losses and
figure to be up against it vs. Mayfield and Co. here.

This is not the best of spots for either team. The Sooners are just 1-5 ATS L6 in theoheir second of B2B
road games. Texas is just 1-6 ATS in it’s L7 road games and travels for  the third straight week here. Getting
stops figures to be the deciding factor in this game and based o performance to this point, might still
lean to the already adjusted total to go over. Check back for all World Champion handicappe Jeff Allen
