JEFF ALLEN: IS LAMAR JACKSON FOR REAL ???
After two weeks of college football, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson has been blowing up
social media and the early Heisman talk. Jackson has accounted for over 1000+ yards of total
offense and 13 touchdowns in a little over four quarters of work in blowout wins over Charlotte
and Syracuse. Jackson has seemingly flipped the switch after little more than a good year last
year for the No.10 Cards. Jackson will be put to the test for real on Saturday when Louisville hosts
No.2 Florida State in a key ACC Coastal Division showdown.
There has been no movement on the line with Florida State opening as a two-point favorite with
the only variance coming in the juice where the Seminoles have been moved to 15 cents in some
spots. The total has seen significant action with the number moving from 63 to 65 and still headed
North at this writing. Early weather forecasts indicate thunderstorms and an 80% chance of
precipitation at game time. Kickoff is at 12:00 PM EST on ABC.
Florida State has been hitting on all cylinders since it’s slow start in the first half of the Ole Miss
game. The Seminoles flogged an overmatched Charleston Southern last week but took a big hit
on the defensive side losing preseason All American DB Derwin James to torn cartilage in the
left knee. It’s an injury that could take anywhere from 2-10 weeks to heal but regardless, James
will miss Saturday. Jimbo Fisher has found a QB in Deondre Francios and Dalvin Cook is arguably
the best back in college football despite not having been unleashed to this point.
While the Louisville offense has been humming, 132 points and averaging 754 yards-per-game …
the Cardinal defense has been somewhat dicey. The Cards are are 72nd in the FBS allowing
227 yards a game through the air. This could be somewhat deceiving as Louisville opponents have
basically playing catch up, down 21 points half way through the first quarter. Again, the quality of
competition rises here and we’ll know much more about Louisville after the smoke clears on Saturday.
While it is still too early to determine whether World Champion Jeff Allen will have a play on these
games, by the eyeball test, the total looks cheap even at 65. Check back with Jeff Allen Sports by
