With the Lakers officially eliminated from the playoffs and just six games remaining in the 2018-2019 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have made the long awaited decision to shut down Lebron James. The Lakers front office, citing consulting with the team’s medical staff, agrees that it would be better to give James the extra time off to rehab a groin injury that cost him 18 games earlier in the season.
The Lakers were 20-14 and sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference when James went down with his groin problem. The team is just 26-25 since his return and are 34-42 overall, and falling to 11th place in the ultra-competitive West. The team will miss the playoffs for the sixth straight year. Lebron finishes his first year as a Laker with a stat line of 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game in 55 games … the fewest games that he’s played in his career.
