NFL Road Faves Tipping the Scale

by maurice porter
In the first three weeks this season we’ve seen a total of 11 road favorites and their record was a pedestrian 6-5 SU/ATS with 8 overs and 3 unders. This weekend the books are offering up six juicy road faves from the NFL betting lineup and we’ve booked two plays, a side and a total as our top football picks for Week 4.

DETROIT at NY JETS
Line: Lions -2 and O/U 44
In close games, the Lions do not have a good history when coming off a home win (0-19-1 ATS) but remember, the Lions have a new coach this year. Jim Caldwell’s best years with Indy were in 2009-10 and his record in the same situation was 6-0-1 ATS with 5 overs and 2 unders. The Jets are 15-2 ATS at home off a home loss and although they won both spots last year, New York allowed exactly 27 points each game. Rex Ryan will craft together a workable gameplan but don’t expect either of these team to finish with less than 23 points.

GREEN BAY at CHICAGO
Line: Packers -2 and O/U 50
The Packers were roughed up in Week 1 but they bounced back with a strong second-half against the Jets in Week 2. Once again, the Pack find themselves a game under .500 but coming off a loss to the Lions we expect a solid effort. The Packers have won four-straight trips to Soldier Field SU/ATS and they are 13-3 ATS in the Windy City since 1999 scoring 23.9 points per game. Chicago deserves respect for its tenacity on the road of late but at home, the Bears are just 1-6-2 ATS under Mark Trestman.
