Duke’s Zion Williamson continued his rampage through men’s college basketball post-season honors by adding the Naismith Award to his growing list of accolades. Williamson becomes just the third freshman, joining Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant, to win the Naismith Player of the Year Award. Williamson also won the AP Player of the Year last week, becoming the eighth Dukie to take down that honor. the first Blue Devil since J.J. Redick won in 2005-2006.
Williamson was also the ACC Player of the Year and led the Blue Devils to the conference tournament title in early March. Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting better than 68% from the field. Williams will almost certainly be the first played taken in the June NBA draft.
